- I would like to say how delighted we have been with the care you gave to Mum whilst she was able to remain at home. As you know, we have had two previous care agencies, neither of which we felt offered anywhere near the quality of care that you have provided. We have previously been very concerned about the lack of awareness of dementia and the ability to ensure appropriate care. The care you take is beyond anything we could have expected from a normal business provider - you and your team really are more like family. Your response to the emergency a few weeks ago when my father fell in the bath was exemplary. To be able to call you, out of hours, and have such a sympathetic and practical response was more than we could have hoped for. Your staff show genuine care and are always professional and friendly. I particularly appreciate the reminders you send when my brother or I may have overlooked something, or where you have alerted us to a concern. All in all, your service couldn't be bettered. - I have found the service to work to extremely high standards, the strategy of having several support workers in rotation avoids the use of a stranger when a support worker is sick or on holiday, with Jane, the head of the service, occasionally filling the role herself if necessary.

- I started working for Jane Caress at the end of May 2021 with 8 years of care experience behind me. From the moment I met Jane and the team, I felt like I fit in straight away. Not just with the team but the clients as well. As somebody who suffers with mental health, getting to meet my regular clients with another support worker put my anxiety at ease, as in the past with previous employers I've been thrown straight in. Also having the same clients week to week and no less than one hour calls has allowed me to get to know them. I was honest in my interview about my mental health and both Jane and the office staff have been so understanding - it’s taken a lot of my anxiety away knowing they will just be at the other end of the phone or do anything to try help. I've also been able to share some of my coping mechanisms with clients who struggle. Jane Caress is one of the best jobs I've had and I can see why support workers have been here for years.
CQC comments during the last inspection
- People were supported by individual members of care staff or a small team of care staff who knew them well. We were told new staff were introduced to them prior to them providing support. This was confirmed by people who used the service and their relatives. One member of staff told us, “We are always introduced to people before we go on our own. It’s important to get to know people; it helps when you’re providing personal care.” A relative told us, “We always know who is coming, it was very important that my relative was familiar with staff before they started to visit”.
- The feedback we received from people who used the service and their relatives was very positive. We received no negative comments. People told us they had confidence in the staff and they felt safe in the way staff supported them.
- Everyone we spoke with said they had confidence that if there were any concerns the agency would respond. One person said, “Any niggles and they’re on to it straight away, I don’t have to mention it twice”.
- The provider is an individual person who is also the registered manager. They told us they were ‘very hands on’ and “made sure they knew people who used the service and their relatives individually.” Without exception, the people we spoke with complemented the agency and the registered manager.
